One of those days

Lucas was the type of wolf to go with the flow, to speak when he thought was right and to tell you no mater what the consequences the truth... and that's what landed him where he was. With a growl the young male padded back and forth his fur bristling as he fumed over his parent's rejection. "Its not like they can stop me..." He snarled to himself. "I can't stand this pack, I'm drowning!" A howl drifted on the breeze, by the high pitch Lucas could tell it was a female. Eye brows raising a bit, Lucas looked toward the Borderlands. "Forget this," He barked.

Not even looking back the brown wolf ran across the border, his black, brown, and cream coat glinting in the sun. With swift grace the male wolf leaped over a fallen log, his body soaring over without much effort. Landing on the other side the wolf slowed to a trot and headed north. The howl had come from the Highlands; that much he was sure. Rejection wasn't a though in his mind; she was female he was male and he knew they would just click. "Hehe just you wait father..." he gave a light smirk. The behavior was both unlike Lucas and right on the dot. While the young wolf was swift to action, the malice attitude toward his family was out of character, but the anger that Lucas still held was as if poison and he would hold on to it for quite some time.}

Flicking her ears, Amethyst trotted on. Patrolling give or take, after having spoken to her Alpha she had decided to do a bit of patrolling of the area..then again she may as well get to know this place well. Where the best dens were, where most of the herds tended to gave. Places where she could hide, if the need arose surely. Giving a wide yawn, the she-wolf soon gave a sneeze. Blasted rain.. She thought with a grumble. Though she hadn't gotten wet too much, it seemed she had caught a slight cold.

But she quickly dismissed such, ears forward and listening that nose sniffed the air. A male, was headed her way and fast. Curios the she-wolf padded forward taking her time, knowing she best save her own energy for whatever encounter she may be in for. She was quite tempted to call Jay out there, but she was busy with the others. She supposed she could keep the male busy for a bit, then decide what to do perhaps..it seemed bast thus far. Thus, it didn't take her long to spit the creme and black also browned male-wolf. He was an average coat of sorts, flicking that tail she waited for him to stop as she had finally and quite meet with her.

_{The scent of a second female drifted to his nose as Lucas slowed his pace. "Two?" He wondered before a slow grin spread across his lips. "Two I can handle." Now walking through the Border lands toward the scent, Lucas quietly hummed to himself, the tune slowly easing his anger at his father. Perhaps they could rekindle the relationship they once had but not anytime soon.

The border land was quite wet, the spring rains quickly flooding the rivers and causing for mud slides and flooding. At best you could call this lower part of the Border miserable at best. Paws squishing in the mud, Lucas lifted them high in disdain at the gross feeling. "Stop being such a girl..." he scolded himself. The scent of the females was getting closer, Lucas's excitement climbing as he grew nearer. Within minutes he was just outside the boarder, head tilted as he caught a flash of white then nothing. It seemed as if a guard; the female he had scented was keeping low until his intentions were clear.

"You can come out now," he called voice slightly rough as he did so. 'No need to show what a softy I am just yet...' Lucas thought quietly to himself. Female though she was, gender didn't determine skill nor size... he'd learned that the hard way.}

Amethyst watched from a far as the male-wolf slowed his pace at first, smelling them both likely but she wasn't too worried over that bit. She stayed low, watching intently, raising an eye brow as he lifted his paws..seeing them sink into the mud. She giggled a bit, quietly to her self, so far he was proving to be a goof ball if anything. Not much of a threat this one seemed to be, he just didn't seem to have that air about him..

Hearing him, she smirked, stepping out surely enough, she cocked an eye brow looking him over. Wet and muddy from what she could gathered, though she was wet at lest she didn't have mud clinging to her white fur. She kept her coat clean as she could naturally. "Just who might you be?" She asked, a bit to the point but her curiosity would only take her so far.

_{She was quick and to the point, that Lucas could respect. His green eyes took in the shockingly white female that stood before him; her brilliant blue eyes seemed to stand out even more so then her white coat in the sea of green around them. Tilting his head in a sly manner, Lucas stepped forward taking in the form of the wolf before him. She was small, swift and perhaps a good fighter; as a patrolled, he guess, she didn't have the build he was expecting.

"I am Lucas, a lone wolf. Yourself?" He asked teasingly. It had been a while since Lucas had seen a wolf he wasn't related to and one such as this to boot. Deciding to have some fun the male began to pace around the female, his eyes glimmering in a teasing way that suggested flirting.}

Amethyst stood still and watched him silently. Though hearing him speak finally. "Amethyst, hunter of the pack here." She replied softly. Raising an eye eye brow at his teasing tone however, let alone with him pacing around her. Yep, defiantly a goof ball. She watched him silently, flicking an ear as she did..listening of course to her surroundings. Let alone keeping an eye on him.

Though her gaze drifted to the sky, thunder and lighting was becoming more pronounced perhaps it was time to return to Jay..the weather was getting bad and she knew they would have to move up to safer ground. A cave would do even, simply this place was becoming dangerous.

Els where, creamy redden paws padded against the wet grounds. Her thick coat was wet from head to tail. Not drenched to say, but being wet always gave her an odd look. Almost a menacing one, like the weather her mood was at best gloomy, she hated the rain. Not that she minded it..it just always got her wet..which she for one disliked.

Snorting a bit, those black and creamy ears perked at the sound of a howl not too far off. She stopped in mid step, wondering if she should go forth and find this she-wolf or hang back and wait for the rains to stop. Decisions as always, giving a huff she padded on..towards the sound of the she-wolves' howl. Though with her front paws slinking into mud suddenly she pulled back, the bank was unstable at best..looking around she looked for a way to cross.

There, a fallen tree, padding quickly over to it, she got on and began to make her way across quickly and effortlessly for that matter. Glade to be over that, the black-creamy-reddish she-wolf began to make her way towards the owner of the summing howl. She was curios as to what this was about, and what she was doing all the way out here. A pack perhaps?

_{So many females; the male wolf huffed his breath slightly frosty from the cool air. Even as spring was setting in the winter's cold had yet to release the land from its icey hands; the rain helping none to warm the territory. The wolf before him seemed to ponder over a sudden thought, if it was to run or fight he didn't know but his teasing game didn't seem to bother her in the least. Lucas was unaffected by the storm's rain and thunder; having grew up in the surrounding lands the wolf new that the only real danger was lightning; but even as they stood there it was becoming more profound. "Perhaps you can take me your your leader?" He asked suddenly. "Maybe as your prisoner?" He added in the teasing comment. The wolf just couldn't help it, teasing was his favorite past time and this female was so...uptight that Lucas could have a ball with her.

Stepping over the border's line and into the wolf's territory, Lucas took a good look around. Just past the line of trees was a large wide open plain, in the center a shimmering lake. Over all Amethyst's alpha had chosen well. Perhaps she would see the warrior in himself and allow him to stay, besides he had taken a liking to teasing the beauty that stood before him. A tease by heart, Lucas would probably never settle down. He loved to flirt and he would till the day he drew his last breath, hopefully that would be many years later.

With a sigh Jaylea got to her feet. After an hour of napping in the sun the young alphess was itching to run! Casting her amber eyes over the terrain, Lea noticed Amethyst's paw prints leading toward the lower lands; close to the border line. Tilting her head for a second the young female sniffed the air hoping to catch wind of her scent but another smell was carried to her that of a strange female. Deciding that Amethyst could handle herself for a few minutes, Lea began to track the strange smell.

The trail led down into the lower lands, not to far from the white female. The river, once a small bubbling brook was now flooded its bank muddy and clearly unstable. The only way across was a fallen log, its long trunk reaching well across the unstable bank. The smell's source had come over the log, muddy paw prints being Lea's source of reasoning and lead to the higher ground. This new wolf was smart; that much the amber eyed wolf could tell as she started to follow the trail once more. The more she followed the closer Lea got to Amethyst's scent and...with out a doubt a second new wolf; this time a male. "Is this an attack or something?" Lea thought quietly.}

Amethyst turned her gaze back to the male, she flicked an ear listening and snorted. "Don't push your luck now." She said with a tease of her own. And with that she turned and padded off, towards where Jay should be heading. To high ground she hopped..flicking that tail, she glanced back making sure the male was following close behind at lest. But it didn't take her long at all to wind her way through the area, and quite pointedly to Jay. Though by the look on her face and the scent, she was tracking yet another wolf..

Zodiac didn't take long to find a cave, finding it a bit odd to be up here. Well, she just went in, shaking her pelt of the extra water before finding a spot to sit and wait. Her azure eyes looking at the forest, and the sky for that matter. Despite being wet and well muddy, it seemed she'd live to see tomorrow. But she frowned and sniffed, catching the scent of a she-wolf coming her way..titling her head slightly she waited to see who could come through that dark entrance.

_{To say he wasn't intrigued would be a lie, Lucas was more then interested in this feisty she-wolf that lead the way. She was more then bossy, quiet and rather touchy but she seemed like an amazing challenge to the male. With a light huff, Lucas followed Amethyst to her alpha. Perhaps he would get lucky and this leader would be just as cocky. The trail was easy enough to follow, it seemed as if the leader was following yet another female. "I'll be the sole male amidst a pack of females..." Lucas thought he was in heaven or at least paradise.

Finally the two stopped, before them padded a small gray and black she-wolf with her nose to the ground. It looked more as if the female was pacing rather then tracking as she padded forward. The slight huff-snuff of her smelling was faint but Lucas had always had rather good ears. "This is your leader?" He asked a bit loudly. The female lifted her head and turned golden/amber eyes upon him, the will and pride in those eyes made Lucas take a step back. This was a grand Alphess in the making.

So adsorbed was she in her tracking, Lea didn't even hear Amethyst and the male pad up behind her. Her hour long nap had left the female itching to move and rather then truly tracking the stranger, Lea was simply going in the general direction that the wolf had taken. Casting her amber eyes upward, Jaylea caught sight of a small cave, its wide opening causing just enough light to see a few feet into the darkness that would shelter the stranger wolf that she was tracking.

"So this is your leader?" Came a gruff voice behind her. Slowly turning her head to look backward Lea saw the brilliant white of Amethyst's coat and the deep green eyes of a handsome male. "Yes I am...and you are?" Came her reply; Lea's voice was low, commanding almost as she watched this pompous male stand before her. The sudden commanding air about Lea was not to go unnoticed but was not foolishly.}

Amethyst never thought her self as bossy, but perhaps she was? She didn't know off the bat, though being feisty that was most defiantly a yes. Then again, what good she-wolf wasn't feisty these days? But she followed Jay as she seemed intent on tracking another wolf at the time. She glanced back hearing Lucas speak. "His name is Lucas, from what I know." She said lightly, flicking that tail of hers in thought.

Zodiac's ears perked, hearing the others'. Two she-wolves and a male, getting on her paws again she padded up to the entrance..just staying inside out of the rain. Her azure gaze moved from one wolf to the other, both were slender females thus not much of a worry. As for the male..well even from here she could tell he would be quite the goof ball. She stood there silent, watching as the three spoke.

_{The white she wolf quickly introduced him; Lucas simply sat on his haunches and resisted the urge to laugh. While bossy wasn't the word to describe this Amethyst, the male now knew; she was certainly a gem among rocks. While this Jaylea was quite the leader, she didn't catch his fancy nor his eye. She was plain at best, Lucas's all type love of blue eyes had robbed the young Alphess of a potentially decent mate. Swiftly taking his eyes off of Jaylea, Lucas gave a short bow. "Indeed," he spoke respectively. "I am known as Lucas and I have come requesting permission to join your pack as a humble Guardian." His eyes shifted to Amethyst and his chest puffed out like a balloon full of pride.

The leader before him simply laughed, her amber eyes warming over as he looked dumbfounded. Had he said something wrong? Perhaps he had, knowing himself. "A Guardian so you say?" The Alphess spoke sweetly. "Then perhaps you could "protect" your Alphess and her Beta by greeting our guest?" Her eyes shifted upward to the cave. "I've been tracking her for a while," Jaylea tilted her head. "And she seems friendly enough as she hasn't attacked us yet." The smile grew upon her lips before the briefest wag of her tail. "Maybe this could be your first mission as our lovely Beta's protector?"}

Amethyst watched Lucas slightly, well reading his expression while listening and paying attention to her Alpha. But seeing he was about to laugh, she raised an eye brow saying nothing as Jay spoke on. Seeing him bow in due respect, well at lest the goofy male had manners. A guardian? He must mean a Warrior. She thought lightly, flicking her tail as she dismissed the thought for the moment. Once seeing him puff out his chest much like a pup trying to impress their mother she gave a brief sweet smile at the very lest, but it faded soon after.

Though her gaze shifted to Jay as she laughed, and cocked an ear. Wondering what was so funny, perhaps she was missing something. But she listened as Jay spoke, and almost gave a snort. What was she thinking?

"Alright, cowboy. Lets see what you can do." She said a bit playfully, before padding off towards the cave abruptly.

The creamy-black-white-reddish she-wolf watched as they spoke, and exchanged words easily among one another. A pack it seemed, three against one..The females she wasn't worried over, the males on the other hand or paw in this case, could be a handful. Blinking as the white-she wolf of the group suddenly began to make her way towards the cave, she retreated back a bit more..until she was about standing in the middle facing them. Taking a bit of a defensive stance, muscles coiled and ready to spring any given moment..she was tense, but breathing softly, she eased her nerves.

_{Cowboy? Lucas blinked his bright green eyes at the snowy female in confusion but let it roll off his shoulders. Perhaps it was a nickname or an endearment. The possibilities swelled in his head as the male quietly trotted after his chosen target; to call Amethyst his female was a bit much but Lucas was starting to like the white wolf. Not Like-Like her; he quickly assured himself, but a sort of friendship-like. Lucas could not; however; mistake the playful tone in the female's voice as she called him Cowboy.

The path up to the cave was easy enough to climb. The edges were far enough from the cliff side as it offered plenty of room in which to pad. Coming to the top, Lucas quickly trotted ahead of Amethyst and placed himself first before the cave. "You can come out now?" He spoke just as he had with Amethyst only hours before. "Our Alphess would like to speak with you." The male added quickly hoping that would put the stranger at ease.

Below the cave, Lea started to pad upward; her body held proudly and head high. She looked every inch the proud Alphess if young. On quick paws Lea arrived to stand beside her Pack members; her amber eyes looking into the darkened cave to see a wolf standing in the middle. "We mean no harm." Her voice was calm and strong even as her heart pounded. Her will was being tested; this would was a female and Lea didn't know if she was here to take her home or her pack but she would fight for her place as Alphess if need be.}

Amethyst gave a smirk as she glanced back at the male, she stopped a bit from the entrance and waited to see what he'd do. Well, it was likely a nickname, but she couldn't say just yet. It was just what came to mind simply, she'd likely find something better later on, but who knows. Maybe it'd stick..

Amethyst stayed back, letting him do his thing. She saw little reason to step in..thus she let things' play out.

Zodiac watched as the pair came into view, the white-wolf seemed to step aside and watch the males. But her attention was both on the male, and then the other she-wolf that stepped in. She did not relax as they would of hopped likely. She was tense as ever, listening silently however..The black-white-grey she-wolf step in and spoke finally. Apparently the Alpha of these two, but she said nothing as she spoke.

Her ears caught the Alpha's words and gave a snort at that. "I know far better then that, she-wolf." She replied back, keeping in her place. She had met quite a few that had said the same thing, and only ended up in a bloody fight, others' she just ran if she could out speed them depending truly. Other wise she'd stand her ground, and fight if need be, it seemed it'd be another of those days, but with how drained she was proving to be, she doubted it lasting long. Meaning she'd have to make quick strikes..or a quick get away..

Lea raised her eye brow, the muscles around her face tightening in amusement but the wolf said nothing instead deciding to remain silent. Beside her the male wolf Lucas lifted his lips to reveal white fangs. "If its a fight you want-" Lea brushed her paw against the male's shoulder in an effort to silence him. "Fighting is no way to greet a guest, however if our guest is hostile it's best to just leave them be." Her amber eyes were calm even as a slight bit of anger showed on her face. Not bothering to worry about the intruding she-wolf, Lea padded out of the cave. "This place isn't high enough. We must move to the highlands before this cave floods." Lea's tail twitched ever so slightly. "Come if you wish wolf."

Turning her back on the wolf to show that Lea didn't see her as a threat, the she-wolf left the mouth of the cave to pad down the cliff side. "The Highlands are just an hours run, we can get there before the rains get any heavier and collapse the surrounding river banks." Fearful of flash floods, Jaylea broke out into a steady run, ears pinned back to listen if the she wolf would follow.

Lucas gave the stranger a last look, green eyes flashing as he padded after his new alpha. For him loyalty was given to who he served, for now it was Jaylea. While the male had never been in a pack other then his parents before now, Lucas didn't know how quick he was to trust but respect had to be given. Lea was light on her feet, the male noticed as he ran after her; perhaps she would make a good leader. The run to higher ground was easy enough, the rain the only discomfort besides the sluggish muck that the wolves had to run through. Praying for a calm river to wash in once they stopped, Lucas snorted as a glop of mud was thrown in his face. "Blasted females..." he muttered to himself as he ran.

Amethyst watched and listened silently, letting the others speak. However, she was glad once Jay silenced Lucas, they didn't need a fight on their paws. Not in this weather at the very lest. but once they began off, she kept to the side..knowing better then to run behind the others' due to getting a face-full of mud.

But once seeing Lucas' get quite nailed, she couldn't help but giggle a bit as she passed him easily..though she stayed close to the two. They were where they needed to be before too long, the thick muck was bugging her...she knew it'd take a few days to clean thus mud and muck out of her fur..

Zodiac's fur bristled along her neck as the male showed hostility, knowing he was going to be quite a pain in the rear. But once the other stepped in, silencing the hot-headed creamy male. It was a bit of a relief, however easily seeing the anger in the other she-wolf's eyes' she snorted a bit at such but she did not say a word. There was no reason to.

She cocked an ear, hearing about the cave flooding, let alone the surrounding area now that was a cause for worry. But what would she do? Follow them and perhaps leave after once in a safer place, or maybe she'd tag along staying in the back ground give or take. The later seemed ideal, once they were out of sight she followed their tracks and easily.

The muck was thick, let alone the mud..this was indeed a pain. But she worried little over getting dirty for now, as it was she was becoming soaked with this down pour. It didn't take her long to spot the trio, but she padded off to the side under some thicker branched trees. After giving her coat a good shake, she sat down in a dry spot and just sat there..her back to the group for the time being, just keeping her distance.

_{Lucas spat the mud from his mouth and resisted the urge to make a smart comment. Even as he loved to tease, the young male knew that some wolves...you just didn't mess with. Behind him he could hear the lone female tagging along, an uneasy feeling crawled over his back. Ears slightly pinned Lucas sped up to run at Lea's shoulder, the three wolves making a sort of V as they ran. Trying to calm his nerves as the female ran behind him, Lucas could feel the fur of his coat rising on end. "So what will we do with the tag-along?" Lucas called to Jaylea.

The Alphess shrugged as she ran. "If she wishes to stay then she stays if not then I'm guessing she'll move on." Lea was pretty calm about the whole ordeal...or seemed to be at least. Inside she wondered if the female would stay or move on. Secretly Lea wanted the female to stay, but the Alphess assumed all leaders wished for the same. Keeping her pace even so that she could run for hours upon end without growing to tired Jaylea let the way to the higher lands. Perhaps there she would find the answer to her inner turmoil.
